Our Rooms
At Stepping Stones, we have three beautiful rooms, thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we believe our environment is our 'third teacher' - a space that encourages exploration, independence and discovery.
Our rooms offer a true home-from-home setting, with soft fairy lights, natural materials and a calm, neutral colour palette. Rather than bright, bold walls and overwhelming colours, we choose gentle, soothing tones that create a peaceful atmosphere where children feel safe, settled and at home. We believe that by keeping our environments calm and uncluttered, the children themselves become the brightest part of the room. Their ideas, creativity, personalities and learning take centre stage, allowing their individuality to shine.
Every space is carefully considered and thoughtfully prepared to spark imagination, encourage meaningful experiences and give our little learners the freedom to explore, discover and grow at their own pace.
Explorers
From 3 months to 2 years
Our beautiful baby room is a calm, nurturing, home-from-home environment, thoughtfully designed for our youngest learners, from babies through to two-year-olds. With a capacity for only 9 children, this baby room offers personal, tailored care for your little one.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our space is filled with natural, heuristic play materials and treasure baskets, inviting little ones to explore, investigate and discover the world around them at their own pace.
There is plenty of space for every stage of their journey, whether they’re learning to crawl, taking their first wobbly steps, exploring new tastes and textures, or building confidence as they climb and move on our Pikler frames. Every little milestone is celebrated, and every opportunity to explore is encouraged.
We also have a separate milk kitchen, allowing us to prepare each baby’s individual feeds with care, alongside cosy, dream coracles that provide a peaceful, relaxing space for naps.
Our baby room also benefits from its own covered, safe and secure garden, allowing our little learners to enjoy fresh air, outdoor exploration and sensory experiences in all weathers.
A gentle, welcoming space where our smallest children can feel safe, build relationships, make first friends and grow in confidence as they begin their learning journey.
Adventurers
From 2-3 years
Our toddler room is a wonderful environment where curiosity, creativity and independence begin to blossom.
With a capacity of only 8 children, our toddler room offers a small ratio, giving personalised care to each individual child.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our space encourages learners to explore, experiment and express themselves through a variety of creative art projects, sensory experiences and open-ended play.
As their confidence grows, children begin to build friendships, make connections and enjoy playing alongside one another. Every day brings new opportunities to discover, create and develop those important early social skills.
With a thoughtfully prepared environment, natural materials and plenty of opportunities for exploration, our toddler room is a place where little personalities shine, friendships flourish and a love of learning begins to grow.
Discoverers
For 3- 4 years
Our preschool room is a place where creativity truly thrives.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our space is filled with real-life materials and loose parts that encourage children to use their imaginations, build, experiment, mark-make and create their own meaningful play experiences. From baking and growing to making their own play dough, there are endless opportunities to explore new interests and develop new skills.
Our preschool room has a capacity for 15 children. This allows us to give individualised, meaningful care to each and every child. Every child is seen, heard and respected.
We take great pride in preparing our children for their next steps, and our preschool has been recognised as one of the best in the area for supporting successful transitions to school.
Our children’s progress is something we truly celebrate, with children often achieving developmental milestones around a year ahead of their expected age ranges.
We also place great importance on nurturing independence and confidence through everyday experiences, such as washing up after meals and serving their own food.
These moments help develop the essential life skills they’ll carry with them into school and beyond.
